Parvoor Sex Scandal Case: Probe Officer Shifted

Tuesday, July 12, 2011: The crime branch officer investigating the Paravur sex scandal has been shifted. SP Surendran was removed from the case on Tuesday and KP Simon will become the new Crime Branch SP.

The Crime Branch team had arrested 55 persons so far in connection with the case. The case is suspected that more than 100 men sexually exploited the girl, including her father, after promising her roles in films.
The sexual abuse of the 14-year-old girl came to light three months ago after her mother lodged a complaint before the police submitting that her husband had forcibly taken the daughter to prostitution. Based on the submissions made by the girl and the mother, the police registered a case and launched a probe.
Though the police were able to arrest a few persons, including the girl’s father and mother in connection with the case, the government handed over the investigation to Crime Branch after there were allegations that the police were trying to help a few high-profile persons belonging to film industry.
