Not aware of Achuthanandan’s Onchiyam visit: Ramakrishnan

Monday, June 4, 2012: The CPI (M) on Monday said it was not aware of the visit of opposition leader V S Achuthanandan to the house of slain RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan at Onchiyam in the district two days ago.
Talking to newspersons here, CPI (M) District Secretary TP Ramakrishnan said though there was no restriction on the visit, VS had not formally informed the party about it.
Ramakrishnan said he himself wanted to visit the house of the assassinated leader but could not do so in view of the political scenario that ensued following the murder. Denying threat by the party to the media and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder, he said a section of the press and the Congress-led UDF was behind the allegation.
Visit of VS, a Central Committee member of the party, who was at loggerheads with the State Party leadership over various issues, to console the wife of the slain leader when the CPI (M)-led Left Democratic Front was going to face the Neyyattinkara bypoll on June 2, had evoked surprise among the political circles here.
