VS faces scathing attacks from functionaries

Wednesday, June 20, 2012: At the CPI (M) State committee meeting on Tuesday, members from the neo-liberalist camp unleashed scathing attacks against Achuthanandan for his attacks against the leadership and the position he took in the issue of the brutal murder of rebel leader TP Chandrasekharan.
Taking part in the discussion, Kozhikode district secretary T.P. Ramakrishnan described Achuthanandan’s position as anti-party while Thiruvananthapuram district secretary Kadakampally Surendran said his stand on the rebel’s murder had affected the prospects of the party candidate in the June 2 Assembly by-poll in Neyyattinkara.
Meanwhile, six members, viz., S. Sharma, K. Chandran Pillai, C.K. Sadasivan, M. Chandran, Pirappancode Murali and K.N. Ravindranath, came out in support of Achuthanandan. Chandran Pillai and S. Sharma opined that VS’ stance in time of adversities had helped the party a lot. But they disagreed with VS’ Onchiyam visit on the day of Neyyattinkara by-poll.
The party is likely to take disciplinary action against three aides of party’s central committee member and Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan in the name of leakage of confidential party documents to the media.
The VS aides facing disciplinary action are his Press secretary K. Balakrishnan, additional private secretary V.K. Sasidharan and personal assistant A. Suresh. The State committee of the CPI (M) is expected to decide on the action against the trio on June 24.
