Needle removed from baby’s body

ALAPPUZHA: A needle suspected to have been attached to an injection syringe was removed from the buttock of a six-day old baby girl, who was born at the Women and Children Hospital here after the child was discharged. According to Sunil Kumar of Kampiyakathu of Beach ward here, the baby was discharged by the hospital authorities on Sunday evening. But the baby was crying continuously when she was brought home. Only on Monday evening did the parents find a needle of a syringe attached to the baby’s buttock and pulled it out. The father had filed a complaint with the Alappuzha north police. Similar complaints will be lodged with the District Medical Officer, W & C Hospital superintendent and also the Health Minister, Sunil Kumar said. The needle was found in the buttock of the six-day-old baby girl after she was discharged from hospital .
