KPCC chief flays selection of PSU chiefs on political grounds

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said that the service organisations should desist from the practice of placing their representatives at the helm of Public Service Undertakings (PSUs) when they were part of the ruling dispensation.

Inaugurating the Kerala Public Sector Officers’ Congress state delegates’ meet here, he said that the PSUs would be able to deliver well only if experts, who had proved their mettle in the respective fields, headed them. “The political allegiance should not be a parameter in determining the heads of the PSUs. If just by looking at the political background a person is appointed then it would lead to the poor performance of the organisation,’’ Chennithala said.

He said various workers’ unions, which resort to strikes over petty issues, are now thinking about how to avoid them and its a paradigm shift that the state has witnessed. N Peethampara Kurup MP presided over the function.

KTDC chairman Vijayan Thomas and those employees who got promotion were felicitated at the meet.

INTUC district president K Mohan Kumar, Kerala Congress (J) district president V R Prathapan, KEPSOC working president M Sundareshan were among those who participated in the function.
