SMS fraud: Nigerian woman arrested

CHALAKKUDY: A Nigerian woman was arrested on Tuesday on charge of SMS fraud through which she tried to collect Rs. 5 lakh. Habeeba Mary (36) was arrested by Sub Inspector Lal Kumar following a complaint filed by Nanda Kishore of Muringoor.


A week ago, Habeeba Mary had send an SMS to Nanda Kishore informing him that he won a cash prize of Rs 200 crore. She also brought to his notice that he must give 8500 dollars as service charge in order to get the prize. Habeeba arrived at the airport to receive the service charge. She was said that money was kept at another place. Accordingly, she was brought straight to the police station.
