Teen detained for murder of pregnant woman

IDUKKI: Adolescent neighbour has been arrested for stabbing a pregnant woman to death.


The thirteen year old student was the neighbour of Sajina(25) who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the 29th of last month.


It is alleged that the teen, who tried to molest the woman, hit her on the head and stabbed her when she resisted.


He dragged the victim and pushed her to a near by rocky hillside from her her corpse was found in the evening.


She was five months pregnant when ill fate struck.


After school hours, the accused left to Ernakulam the next day from where he was taken into custody by the police team.


The police doubts the probability of a thirteen year old committing the murder all by himself and suspects the presence of an accomplice in the act.


Over 40 persons had been interrogated by the police before the arrest.


There were tell-tale stab wounds in the neck, forehead and left hand of the corpse and evidence suggestive of a tussle including bloodstains were discovered in the surroundings.


The deceased was married to Abdullah alias Nambiraj, a native of Thirunelveli, who embraced the Islamic faith to wed Sajina.


He works as salesman in a textile shop in Ernakulam.
