Finance dept resents aided status to schools in Malabar
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The finance department informed Chief Minister Oommen Chandy that aided status cannot be given to 35 schools in Malabar. The department said if it is given, a financial liability of 1 crore will occur monthly.
The chief minister and the education minister have different opinions on it. The statement of Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb that the cabinet decided to give the status, in the assembly had created a controversy. The chief minister informed the assembly that the cabinet had decided to give the status but a final decision has not been taken as it is under the consideration of the finance department.
The opposition had turned against the government alleging that the education minister had sabotaged the cabinet decision.
