Youth Congress blasts state Congress leadership
What’s the similarity between King Yayathi and Congress leaders in the state? According to a political resolution of the Youth Congress passed here on Sunday, Congress leaders in the state, who deny youngsters party positions, are as cruel as King Yayathi, who asked his son to lend him his youth in exchange of his old age.
The political resolution passed in the ‘Yuvadarshan 2012,’ the state leadership camp of the Youth Congress, criticised that the senior Congress leaders were speaking of reorganisation of the party like Yayathi’s promise of returning youth to his son after 1000 years.
‘Hundreds of youths who quit leadership posts in the youth and student organisations of the Congress party are standing in front of KPCC office with begging bowl. To end this discrimination and rejection, youths should form suicide squads.
Seeking inspiration from the Jasmine revolution which took place in the streets of Arab countries, youth should take over the Congress party posts,’’ called the resolution presented by D V Vinod Krishna, state general secretary of the Youth Congress.
The resolution also said that the Youth Congress would not support any policy of the UDF Government that did not recognise the sentiments of the youth, including the increase in pension age. Also launching a frontal attack on UDF partners without naming any constituent party, the resolution said that just because the majority was thin, none should play big brother and dictate terms to the Congress. ‘In Kerala, where media is vigilant and sensationalism is rampant, Ministers should avoid inviting controversy by their words or deeds. Some ministers, who govern by keeping ‘trespassers will be prosecuted’ board are not only detrimental to the unity of the front but also cause damage to democracy,’ the resolution said.
The Youth Congress state Committee, in the resolution, also asked Congress to spread AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s ideas and messages to more arenas in the party. The Youth Congress welcomed the stand of the UDF Government on the Mullaperiyar issue and congratulated the government for launching State Entrepreneurship Mission. It also observed that the Right to Services Act was a golden feather in the cap of the UDF Government.
The four-page political resolution also attacked CPM in a paragraph against the backdrop of the T P Chandrasekharan murder. ‘Seeking inspiration from the Jasmine revolution which took place in the streets of Arab countries, youth should take over the Congress party posts,’ said the Youth Congress resolution.
