Man gets another life term for killing second wife

A 52-year-old man, who had earlier undergone life term for murdering his first wife, was convicted again to life imprisonment for murdering his second wife.

The Thiruvananthapuram Fast Track Court on Friday awarded the life term to Soman of Edava. The court also ordered that the convict should not be given parole for 17 years. The court said that capital punishment was not awarded taking into account his age.

Soman was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Rabiya. He had murdered his second wife Sara Beevi of Kottur in January 31, 2010 after he was released from the Nettukaltheri open jail in the first case. While undergoing sentence at the open jail, he sought remission after the then LDF Government decided to grant remission to those who had been serving prison term for more than 14 years. Though the district probationary officer recommended against granting Soman remission, the Prison Department recommended remission for Soman and he was released in 2008.

Both the wives were hacked to death suspecting infidelity.
