Student dies in bike accident

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 22 year old college student died on Friday in a motorbike accident while she was riding pillion on the motorbike ridden by her brother.  She was run over by a KSRTC bus.


She is identified as P. Veena, daughter of Vasu Pillai-Prabha Kumari couple hailing from Chengottukonam. She is an MSc student at University College. Vishu, her brother, received head injuries.


The accident took place in front of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pattom at 12 pm. A KSRTC bus was overtaking Vishnu’s motorbike. The handle of his bike hit the bus and both of them were knocked off from the bike. The rear wheel of the bus ran over Veena’s head.


The siblings were heading towards Kariyavattom University Campus for submitting application for admission to BEd course. She had never travelled in a motorbike before.


Her body was cremated at her house premises after post-mortem.
