VITHURA: A youth of a six-member group that went on a picnic to the hill resort of Ponmudi drowned in Kallar on Saturday.The deceased has been identified as Al Jazif (19), son of Jalaluddin from Pothencode. He is a student of UIT College, Pirappancode.
The incident happened at Golden Valley, which offers access to the Kallar River, around 3 pm when the youths, who were returning from Ponmudi after visit, went to have a dip in a rivulet which originates from the heights of Ponmudi and merges with Kallar River. There were many slippery rocks in the stream. Al Jazif got trapped between those rocks.
His friends tried to pull him out, but in vain. The dead body has been shifted to Medical College mortuary.
