Communism will survive: Karat
KOCHI: CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat Friday said former Supreme Court judge and social activist V R Krishna Iyar believed that Communism in India would always survive and be successful. Talking to reporters after visiting Iyer, he said 'he told me that he was of the firm belief that in India Communism will always be successful because of the conditions.
Karat also claimed Iyer had asked him to continue to work for it. 'I am impressed by his great determination, fortitude and conviction, which is very rarely seen in our country today,' he added. Earlier Iyer reminded the CPI (M) General Secretary that people have pinned their hopes on Leftism to save the country. Iyer told Karat, when the latter visited him at his house today, 'there is a hope for country only through Leftism." 'Even if you work against it, of course, it would survive,' he quoted Mr Iyer as saying, adding poverty of the people was the strength of the Leftist movement.
