MG University to restructure exam system


The Mahatma Gandhi University will restructure the existing examination system, considering the long pending demands from private registration students regarding internal mark issues. The MG University senate meeting held on Saturday decided to initiate steps in this regard.


Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets, for multiple choice questions system, will be used for internal valuation. Calicut University has already implemented a new system akin to the proposed system by the MG University. Grading will done according to the number of right answers. The senate meeting also announced to include BCom (Cooperation) course to the credit semester programme.


The meeting also expressed hope that an amount of `28 lakh will be allotted to the University from the Kerala Higher Education Council for the re-structuring of curriculum for Post-Graduate courses. The University will also consider the completion of course work of teachers, who register for PhD, during the leave period.


Vice Chancellor Rajan Gurukkal presided over the meeting. Pro vice-chancellor Rajan Varughese, syndicate members Prof N Jayakumar, C V Thomas, C I Adbul Rahman, M C Dileep Kumar, George Varghese, B Suseelan, K V Narayankurup and Baby Sebastian were also present at the meeting.
