Deshabhimani: HC rules in favour of Appukkuttan Vallikkunnu

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday delivered a verdict in favour of a petition filed by admired journalist Appukkuttan Vallikkunnu against the CPI (M) mouthpiece Deshabhimani daily.

In the petition filed in HC, Appukkuttan, who was expelled from Deshabhimani in 2008, had questioned against his expulsion and also wanted the daily to disburse all his benefits. Though the Labour Court had earlier ruled in favour of Appukkuttan, Deshabhimani filed a petition against him in HC.

The HC has now rejected the petition filed by the daily and ruled in favour of Appukkutttan. The verdict instructs the daily to disburse all the benefits which he was eligible to obtain till his age of 60.

Thus HC has upheld the Labour Court verdict which ordered Deshabhimani to disburse all the benefits from the date of his expulsion up to December 2005, the date on which Appukkuttan was to retire.
