Antony meets Sonia on Chennithala issue

NEW DELHI: Senior leader and Defence Minister A K Antony called on Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi in connection with the induction of KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala into the cabinet. He met Sonia after a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Chennithala.

The two held talks for nearly 20 minutes at Sonia’s residence. Antony conveyed the details of the talks held with the state leaders. Sonia expressed her anxiety to Antony on the sudden rift between the two leaders who worked jointly. Antony was not ready to divulge the details of the talks to the reporters waiting outside.

Both the leaders have clearly conveyed their respective stands to Antony. Chandy had clearly stated that the high profile home portfolio cannot be given and Chennithala his stand of not joining the cabinet without home. Antony’s stance will be crucial in this issue.
