I’ll not resign, says Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy denying the allegations leveled against him in connection with the solar fraud case told the assembly that he will not resign over unnecessary things. He also rejected the opposition demand for a judicial probe in the case. The present investigation in the case is satisfactory, he said.

Chandy told the assembly that he has met Biju Radhakrishnan, first accused in the solar fraud case, at the Guest House in Ernakulam. An employee of a famous daily newspaper too accompanied Biju. While replying for the adjournment motion seeking a discussion on the meeting with Biju, Chandy said they spoke only family matters.

Chandy said Thomas Kuruvila is his friend in Kottayam. When I reach Delhi, he helps me a lot.

Chandy said Saritha S Nair has cheated him also. The cheque of Rs 25 lakhs given to the chief minister’s relief fund has bounced.

Chandy said some misused his office. I haven’t held discussions with Saritha S Nair, another accused in the case, in Delhi. I met Beena Madhavan, an advocate appearing for the state in the Supreme Court. The chief minister produced a photo in the assembly to prove it. One cannot be found guilty on the basis of just a phone call. What they conversed is the most important.

Chandy termed as baseless claiming that a letter was given to Team Solar for partaking in Emerging Kerala. The opposition is trying to create a smoke screen. The present investigation in the solar case is satisfactory, he said.
