Anti-government sentiments got divided in Aruvikkara: Kodiyeri

THIRUVANANTHAPURM: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has admitted that anti-government sentiments got divided in Aruvikkara. The political mileage out of such a situation has benefitted the UDF. Kodiyeri was speaking to media persons at a press conference here.

“There prevailed anti-government sentiments in Aruvikkara. Not only the Left but other parties including the BJP were there to exploit that situation. Thus anti-UDF votes were prevented from shifting towards the LDF. In the Lok Sabha election, the BJP got only ten per cent votes. This time there votes will increase. If the BJP hadn’t had a strong candidate, the UDF would have faced a humiliating defeat. The BJP will get anti-government votes. What was seen in Aruvikkara was a never-before seen voting TREND. More strategies will have to be planned for avoiding such a situation in the FUTURE,” Balakrishnan said.

Meanwhile, the Left is optimistic about the Aruvikkara results. “We have the confidence of winning the election. Also, talks about the third front in Kerala is irrelevant,” he added.
