KOZHIKODE: Private buses will go on a token strike on June 11 and Private bus coordination committee has also decided to hold an indefinite strike from July 1. The move comes as a mark of protest against the government’s decision to grant permits to KSRTC buses in 31 routes where private buses are operating services.
It was in 2009 that the government had decided to allow permits solely to KSRTC in 31 routes including Kottayam, Thekkady and Ernakulam. Though private bus owners had approached the high court questioning this decision, the court then upheld the government’s order.
