KOLLAM: In a major fire that broke out near Shakthikulangara, fishing nets, gas cylinders and other paraphernalia worth lakhs of rupees were gutted. The fire stated at the concrete building near Aravila St George church at around 12 in the night.
The materials that got damaged were stored in six rooms in the house. Fishing nets stored in five rooms were completely destroyed in the fire. The nets and other things were stored in the rooms on Sunday following trawling ban.
The destroyed boats were Joy Williams’ Valiyamukkuvan, Franas’ Barthelme, Sathosh’s Ponnuminnu, Biju Varghese’ St Anotys and Shaji’s Japamala.
