Salim Raj, nine others held in land grab case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI Wednesday arrested ten persons including Salim Raj, former gunman of the chief minister and 21st accused in the Kadakampally and Kalamassery land fraud cases.

Apart from Salim Raj, the others arrested by the CBI’s Thiruvananthapuram unit are additional tahsildar Vidyodaya Kumar, revenue official Jayaram, Salim Raj’s relatives Nazar, Abdul Majeed, Muhammed Ashraf and S M Salim.

Those arrested in the Kalamassery land fraud case in Kochi are Thrikkakkara village officer Sabu, village assistant Murad, and Geevarghese, a clerk of the collectorate.

The CBI recorded the arrest of Salim Raj and Vidyodaya Kumar by 2 pm after summoning them for interrogation. Conspiracy and destruction of evidence are the charges slapped on Salim Raj and Kumar.

The Kadakampally case is that he tried to grab 44.5 acres of prime land in Kadakampally village in the capital city from its legitimate owners by quoting non-existent court decrees, falsifying revenue records, and creating fake sales and partition deeds, transfers of registry documents and thandaper accounts.
