Police officials should not break traffic rules unless emergency, says DGP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP T P Senkumar directed not to break traffic rules for top police officials. DGP’s new direction came at a time when police officials vehicle jump even when the red signal is on.  The circular released by Senkumar has asked the officials to break traffic rules only if it is emergency.

The passing of the vehicles of police officials even when the red signal is on can lead to accidents at times.  Traffic cops usually make way for the officials’ vehicles to pass by. However, when a situation arises for VIP’s to violate signal, then it should be informed at the police control room. The circular says that if the officials’ vehicles have to pass during emergency, then the pilot vehicle should honk or give siren.
