Aviation ministry recommends exemption of CISF from examining passengers at airport

NEW DELHI: The union aviation ministry Wednesday recommended the home department to exempt CISF from examining the passengers at the airport. The report of aviation secretary Ashok Lavasa after investigating the Karipur fifing which claimed the life of a CISF jawan, has requested to appoint a special force to examine passengers.

The CISF coming under the union home ministry is in charge of the security at the airports. However, many complaints have been voiced against the CISF. In order to avoid this, the CISF units should come under the aviation ministry.

The report of Kerala in connection with the incident has been rejected by the aviation ministry. It is not correct to blame the fire force officials for the issue.   The report has stated that the CCTV clippings show fire force official Sunny Thomas cooperating with the CISF. The report blames the CISF for the damage of the property in the airport. The problems started after the first complaint against CISF circle inspector Sitaram Choudhary was neglected. The report has recommended to see that the ego problems between the CISF and the fire force should not propagate further.

The report has stated that such incidents should not happen again and preventive measures should be taken for that. A meet should be convened every month by the airport director on the security of the airport. The CCTV should be examined regularly. Due respect should be given to passengers while they are examined.
