THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five youths are feared drowned after they went for a bath in the sea nearby Kovalam, police said.
Those reported missing are Nithinraj of Venjaramood, Jithin of Kazhakuttom, Anoop, Akhil of Statue and Abhishek, a basketball coach hailing from PTP Nagar in the city, police said. Three of the missing persons are engineering students, and one a Hotel Management student studying in Bangalore.
Marine enforcement and Coastal Police are involved in the search operation to trace the five missing persons.
The youths, hailing from here, had ignored the warning by police to not enter the sea in view of rough conditions and were swept away by waves at around 7 PM, police said.
