Konni incident: Girls visited Bengaluru twice, says police

KONNI (PATHANAMTHITTA): IG Manoj Abraham Tuesday said the girls missing from Konni and later found dead on the railway track had visited Bengaluru twice. They first planned to go to Delhi from Chenganoor, but when they reached Mavelikkara, they got off after knowing they had caught a wrong train. They reached Ernakulam by bus and from there went to Bengaluru.

The bus and the train tickets taken by the three were in their hands and a fourth person had not accompanied them. After visiting the Botanical Garden in Bengaluru, they returned back to Kochi. The ticket for visiting the Garden was found in the bag. From Kochi, they went to Angamaly by bus and bought medicine for headache from a medical shop. They left for Bengaluru later and visited the Botanical Garden again, said Manoj Abraham.

The officer said, “I don’t think the girls were murdered. As a fourth person was not there, the fingers point to that. Money may have been raised after selling their ornaments. The tablet which they had is missing, they may have sold it. Police is of the conclusion that they may have committed suicide. Financial difficulties and family problems may have forced them to take the extreme step.”

Meantime, the identity card used for acquiring a SIM card is that of their neighbour Molly’s. The SIM card was taken without Molly’s knowledge. Only when police reached her house, she knew about it. She told police that she had not given her identify card.
