Mystery still shrouds on the death of violinist Balabhaskar. From the time the violinist’s father C K Unni raised suspicion on his son’s death, different stories are heard. It was at this time two of the close aides of the violinist were nabbed in the gold smuggling case. Balabhaskar’s driver Arjun has a shocking criminal background. Arjun, a native of Thrissur is under a cloud of suspicion in connection with the death. The police had caught him for ATM burglary while he was studying for engineering. There are many criminal cases against him.
He was caught for damaging two ATM counters in Palakkad and Thrisur three years back. When police asked him why he attempted ATM theft, he said that if succeeded once then need not continue this again.
He along with Fazil, a native of Attoor, who acted as a hero in many music video albums, had joined Arjun in the ATM burglary at Panjal and Lakkidi. Their first ATM burglary was on January 11 in 2016. Though he tried to damage the ATM of Bank of Baroda, he did not succeed in his mission. He was in the team trying to destroy the ATM of SBI at Panjal. The team of youths including Arjun grew after cheating businessmen like selling smuggled gold at lower rates than the market price. As no complaints were lodged, they did not involve in any cse. The police finally trapped Arjun on the pretext of buying gold from him. Mystery still shrouds on how Arjun came as a driver of Balabhaskar. Arjun, who was at the driver’s seat at the time of the accidental death of Balabhaskar, is still absconding. He was also injured in the accident. Arjun is the son of the doctor’s wife’s sister in Palakkad. Prakashan Thampy, accused in the gold smuggling case and programme manager of Balabhaskar, told police that the violinist was well aware of the criminal background of Arjun. Arjun had also claimed that he possessed Nagamanikyam.
