Jayarajan criticises police

KANNUR: The CPI (M) announced that its leaders would participate in the all-party peace meeting called by Home Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan on August 7, according to its state committee member M V Jayarajan. Talking to newsmen here after submitting a memorandum before the district collector Rathan Kelkar and Northern Inspector General (IG) of Police, Jose George, he alleged that the police and the government were not allowing CPI (M) to function like a political organisation.

He demanded that police should end their 'oppression' against a political party. He also alleged that police has not provided permission to the party to use mikes at a public function to be held on August 13, DYFI freedom rally and the commemoration day function on August 23. Meanwhile, CPI (M) and other Left Parties boycotted the all the party peace meeting convened by the district collector yesterday, alleging that police were acting vengefully against CPI (M).
