KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday asked the police why they did not arrest PRD Director A. Firoz, an accused in a cheating case in which fraudsters Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha S. Nair are the accomplices, while he got admitted to a hospital.
Justice S.S. Sateeshchandran also enquired how Firoz was promoted to a high position even after a case was registered against him.
It was Firoz who introduced Biju and Saritha as senior strategic advisor to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and chartered accountant respectively to Salim M. Kabir, managing director of a building firm. Firoz promised him to arrange a loan. Salim lost about Rs. 40 lakhs.
The court questioned the police while considering the anticipatory bail plea submitted by Firoz in this cheating case. The court also directed the police to produce the case diary.
The court, after denying the bail plea, asked whether the petitioner was willing to surrender. To this, the petitioner’s advocate replied that once the plea is denied he would surrender.
