VALANCHERRY: A 13-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten up by his Madrasa teacher has been admitted to hospital. It was Kanjippura Chottoor Vadakkethil Kunjeedu Haji’s son Muhammed Anas (13) who was beaten by Cherppulassery native Shaukkath Aslami, the main teacher of the Madrassa. He allegedly beat the boy when he came to the intuition on Wednesday morning.
Since Anas was not well he had not turned up for Madrasa classes for the previous two days. This is said to have annoyed the teacher. He was beaten with a cane and when he tried to block it with his hand, he fractured his finger bones. The fracture was later confirmed in X’ray reports. There were also abrasions on his lap and arms.
It is now reported that the teacher was in the habit of physically abusing students for trivial reasons. For fear of repercussions, the students kept mum.
Valancherry police have filed a case against the teacher based on the complaint filed by the boy’s parent.
Child line District coordinator Anwar Karakkad reached Valancherry Nadakkacu hospital and recorded statements of the student and his father.
Shoukkathali Aslami is the headmaster of Chottur Muhammdudheen Madrasa and Anas is a seventh standard student here. He is also the seventh standard boy of Karippol government high school. The child’s father said that he would proceed with the case.
