THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no need for a CBI probe now in the fireworks tragedy at Paravur, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Talking to reporters after the all party meeting, he said fireworks need not be banned but it should be restrained.
Through an affidavit the government will inform their stand to the high court that a CBI probe is not needed now.No one can influence the crime branch probe. The crime branch has noticed that it was a competitive display of fireworks seen in Paravur. The temple trust members are under custody. The probe is moving in the right track, he said.
The all party meet decided to form a special rehabilitation fund for those involved in the accident. The government will request the high court to lift the ban on fireworks for the Thrissur Pooram. The chief minister and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said they will seek permission to conduct pooram within the law.
