KOCHI: State government’s controversial order taking Vigilance department out of RTI purview was stayed by the high court on Friday. The court clarified that the government order would not prima facie stand the test of law. The stay comes in response to a Public Interest Litigation filed.
The court said the people have the right to know facts regarding the Vigilance. The court noted that though the government had informed that they would withdraw the order, it didn’t happen.
Meanwhile, the government argued that the PIL was filed with political intentions as the election was nearing. This claim was rejected by the court.
