KOCHI: A total of 16 bus employees including eight drivers and eight conductors have been taken into custody for drunken driving. The police also took into custody six buses. A team led by Aluva Principal sub inspector T B Vijayan took them into custody after an inspection was conducted by three squads in Aluva. The buses were given after examining the documents of the drivers and conductors who came to replace them. Bus services were not affected as the buses were given within an hour.
A vehicle inspection was conducted following a complaint received by DySP Y R Rast. A complaint has been lodged against cancellation of services on Sunday evenings and misbehaviour towards passengers. There was a complaint that bus employees in Aluva are conducting services in an inebriated condition.
