KOCHI: In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death at Pullepadiyil in Ernakulam. The gruesome murder happened at 7 on Tuesday morning and the victim has been identified as the son of John Risty residing at Pullepadi Krishna Swami Cross Road Parappalli house.
Risty was on his way back home after buying milk from a nearby shop, when the accused Ponnassei Saji Devasya (40) attacked him.
The Ernakulam Central police have arrested Saji (40). The police suspect him to be a mentally person. According to witnesses Devasya called the boy near him and stabbed in his neck and body several times.
With more than seventeen stabs on his neck and body, the boy was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Ernakulam. But, he succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.
The accused, who was on the run, was arrested later by the Central police.
Risty was a fifth standard student. The body will be handed over to his relatives after post-mortem. Risti’s communion was supposed to have happened in the next week.
Some rivalry between the families is presumed to be the reason behind the crime.
