THIRUVALLA: The opposition expressed by senior Congress leader P J Kurien over giving Thiruvalla constituency seat to Kerala Congress State General Secretary Joseph M Puthussery for the upcoming Assembly election has ended.
There were allegations that Joseph M Puthessery had played a major role to defeat Kerala Congress (M) district president Victor through cross-voting, last time. So Kurien’s demand was that such a person be not allowed to contest the election
But, after Kerala Congress (M) Chariman K M Mani held ice-breaker talks with Kurien, the latter said at a press-conference that his was just an opinion and Mani’s explanation had cleared his concerns.
“Mani’s explanation was satisfactory. I had certain misunderstandings and now all that have been sorted out,” said Kurien while Mani said he could convince Kurien of the reality. He added that the victory was certain for UDF in Thiruvalla and UDF would work unitedly for Puthussery.
Kurien said the UDF’s election campaign would start on Sunday itself and the campaign would be intensified with the support of Constituency committee.
