THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NCP's Mani C Kappan will be pitted against K M Mani in Pala this time also. This is the third consecutive time he is fighting the Assembly election against Mani.
Other candidates are N A Muhammedkutty in Kottakkal, Thomas Chandy in Kuttanad and A K Saseendran in Elathoor.
From 2001 onwards, NCP has been contesting the Pala seat. In 2001, Uzhavoor Vijayan contested opposite Mani. Kappan appeared in the scene in 2006. In the last election, he could reduce Mani's majority to 5259 votes. NCP National Secretary Jimmy George's name was also under consideration. Meanwhile no confirmation was available on NDA candidate in Pala. There are speculations that P C Thomas will contest from here.
