Oppn stages walkout from assembly


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition LDF staged a walkout from the Kerala Assembly in protest against denial of permission for the adjournment motion moved in connection with the taking over of Nelliyambathy Estate.


The forest department is trying to return the Nelliyambathy estate back to the owners, the opposition alleged. The counsel for the government is not taking the case seriously. Chief whip P C George and some UDF leaders are helping the encroachers to encroach the land of the forest department, alleged V Chenthamarakshan.


Minister K B Ganesh Kumar said the estates in Nelliyambathy will not be given to private persons. The government will take over all estates which violated title deeds. The minister also added that there were no discrepancies in taking over the land.
