Oppn stages walkout over suicide of CPI leader

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition LDF staged a walkout from the assembly for not taking action against policemen in connection with the suicide of CPI branch secretary Rajappan Nair in Thiruvalla. Nair committed suicide depressed after he was insulted by the cops. Some unruly scenes were witnessed in the assembly for some time over the incident.


The adjournment motion moved by Mathew T Thomas said that he was brutally beaten up in front of Nair’s wife and son over a petty issue.  He couldn’t even sign the bail papers with his right hand. After three days, he committed suicide when his wife went out leaving a suicide note.  


Dissatisfied over Thiruvanchoor’s reply, the opposition staged a walk out. The minister said IG will probe the incident and if the cops are found guilty they will be punished.
