Paravoor sex scam: Court to pronounce verdict on Thursday


The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court will pronounce verdict in the case against the victim’s father in the sensational Paravoor sex-scandal case, in which a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by as many as 160 men over a period of time, on Thursday.Sessions Court Judge P G Ajith Kumar reserved the order after the trial proceedings against first accused Sudheer, father of the victim, was over.


There are 26 cases reported across the country were the victim has been sexually abused by the father. However, in the Paravoor case, the   father not only abused the child but also threw her into the flesh market.


During the trial against Sudheer, the court examined 33 witnesses and 43 documents. The offences against Sudheer are rape, under IPC 376, giving intoxicating drugs to juvenile or child under Section 25 of the Juvenile Justice Act, and criminal intimidation under IPC 506. In all, 102 accused were arrested in the case. The police had filed a chargesheet against 62 accused. The girl had alleged that her father, who used to do insignificant roles in Malayalam films, was the first to rape her. He then took her to various places and offered her to many people. Sudheer used to take the girl, who was in class X then, away with him for days. According to the deposition of the victim, the first molestation took place on May 3, 2010, when Sudheer took her to a hotel in Ernakulam on the pretext of an interview for a role in a film.
