VS likely to be censured

NEW DELHI: The two-day CPM central committee convened here decided to openly censure V S Achuthanandan for violating party norms. The central committee accepted the directive taken at the politburo meet.

The factions of the CPM in Bengal and Tripura had opposed strict action against VS, but none opposed action against him. So, the central leadership decided to censure him openly.

As VS was unwilling to accept the one-sided stand against him, the central leadership may criticize the state leadership also.
In the meanwhile, the politburo decided to take strict action against M M Mani, former Idukki district secretary, which would be a setback for the official faction.
