Tuesday, October 18, 2011: The contempt of court case against Govt Chief Whip PC George has been posted to October 25.
A petition was filed on September 15 before a special Court against
PC George alleging that he had defamed judiciary through his remarks.
The petition was filed by advocate Balachandran, a resident of
Kowdiar. The petition points out that PC George had criticized judges
through his statements made at press conferences and TV shows.
The Court would hear on the plea tomorrow. Recently, in a letter send
to President Pratibha Devisingh Patel, Governor and Supreme Court Chief
Justice, George alleged that the Vigilance judge had ordered a probe
into the case without following the usual procedures.
The judge was deliberately trying to make Chief Minister Oommen
Chandy an accused in the case, the letter alleged. George’s action has
apparently embarrassed the Congress leadership.
