Police to grill two accused in Perumbavoor incident

October 13, 2011: The two accused in a case relating to the incident in which a 37-year-old man was beaten to death in Perumbavoor, have been sent to police custody today.
The probe team headed by Dy SP-K Harikrishnan would interrogate the accused identified as Satheesh-Congress MP K Sudhakaran’s gunman and Santosh.

The deceased, Reghu, was brutally beaten to death by three persons alleging that he had stolen a bag containing Rs 19,000 while travelling in the Thrissur- Chadamangalam KSRTC bus.
Following the brutal assault Reghu collapsed and died on the spot. Reghu’s family informed that the money was not stolen. The police have registered a case against the accused under charges of murder.
The money found with Reghu, who died after being brutally assaulted Monday night was his own. Reghu, who was accused of picking the pocket of another passenger inside a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus, was beaten to death at Perumbavoor near here Monday night.
Reghu’s friend Balan said Tuesday that he helped him to get Rs 19,000 by pledging Reghu’s own ring at a bank.
The bank authorities have also confirmed it. The relatives are also of the opinion that though Reghu had financial difficulties, he will not steal money.
The incident happened when Reghu was travelling in the Thrissur-Chadamangalam KSRTC bus. Reghu who was beaten up inside the bus was assaulted again when he got down at Perumbavoor. He collapsed and died before being rushed to hospital. A postmortem report said Reghu died of brain haemorrhage.
