Opposition sought permission to move an adjournment motion to discuss
the issue in the Assembly on Tuesday. With the Chief Minister
expressing his willingness to discuss the issue, Speaker G. Karthikeyan
allotted two hours for the discussion during the day’s session.
The discussion lasted for almost two hours after which the opposition demanded a CBI probe into the case. The Chief Minister’s categorically dismissed the demand for seeking a CBI probe into the affair, prompting the Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan to announce the walkout.
He also noted that a petition seeking a CBI probe into the issue was now before the High Court of Kerala. The court had not taken a decision on it.
