Thursday, October 20, 2011: CPM veteran and leader of Opposition, V S
Achuthanandan today distanced himself from the statement by senior CPM
Leader M.V Jayarajan, who made a call to the SFI students to use
physical force against Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K
Radhakrishna Pillai.
Talking to mediaperson here, VS said such a statement should not have
been made by Jayarajan. The government should suspend the ACP instead
of transferring him, he added.
Demanding a judicial inquiry into the firing incident, he alleged
that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was supporting the police action in
connection with the agitation by the SFI students.
Meanwhile, the SFI also demanded action against the ACP, who had fired at the agitating students in Kozhikide a few days ago.
Jayarajan said there was nothing wrong in beating up the ACP whenever
he was spotted without uniform.Following the comment, the Kannur town
police registered a case against him.
