Friday, October 14, 2011: Opposition leader VS Achuthanandhan on
Friday termed the report by the DGP Jacob Punnoose on the Kozhikode
firing as fraud. The report justifies Oomen Chandy and the govt. VS
added that the people and the striking agitators will discard the
report.
VS was talking to mediapersons after visiting the SFI leaders in the jail in Kozhikode.
DGP Jacob Punnoose on Thursday had submitted the report on police
firing on SFI activists in Kozhikode to the chief minister. It stated
that the DGP had justified the firing by ACP Radhakrishna Pillai and
said ACP had fired when the agitators went out of control and to calm
down the situation.
Radhakrishna Pillai opened fire on protesting SFI activists at
Kozhikode Govt. engineering college to bring the situation under
control, DGP said. The police department has not initiated any kind of
action against the ACP in connection with the issue. The Kozhikode
police action on the SFI activists had triggered widespread protest in
the state.
