Wednesday, October19, 2011: CPM-led LDF Opposition in Kerala on
Wednesday staged a walkout from the Assembly as a protest against
Speaker G. Karthikeyan’s refusal to entertain their adjournment motion
on the distribution of salary and pension of government employees
through new generation banks.
Replying to the adjournment motion moved by Thomas Issac MLA, Finance
Minister KM Mani opined that the salary, pension and other allowances
were distributed through ATMs for the convenience of the employees.
Minister informed the Assembly that the government’s other financial
dealings were not being done through banks. Following the Minister’s
response Speaker denied the permission for the Opposition’s adjournment
motion, after which they walked out from the House.
