THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alleging that though he was given a clean chit several times in a disproportionate assets case, a Vigilance inquiry in the name of Quick verification was being initiated against him, Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan broke down at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Many came out to support him.
Finance Minister K M Mani also, making an indirect reference to Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, said, “Here only one person is decent. We both are accused”.
“There are also rumours that I am been pulling strings to get myself appointed as a Human Rights Commission member. I don’t want anything… I am going away. There is already pressure from my family to relieve myself of all official responsibilities, move away from enemies and lead a peaceful life at home,” said Bharat Bhushan who will retire on January 31.
Later at a press conference, the chief minister also came to support the chief secretary and took a dig at the media, asking it how somebody dared to spread news about Bhushan’s post-retirement plans.
