THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following suspicion that human trafficking has clandestinely taken place in Thiruvananthapuram International airport, Valiyathura police have filed cases and started investigation in this regard. Cases have been filed against two from Valiyathura-Vettukadu area, but no arrest has taken place. They are tour operators Anessh Fernandes (37) and Innocent. Both are now absconding.
The tour operators sent 39 persons to Jordan in visiting visas recently. As these persons didn’t return to India even after the visa expired, suspicion was raised against them and cases were subsequently filed against them. The police initiated the procedure to file cases after the Immigration department AFRRO informed the police about the seriousness of the situation.
Thirty nine-member team comprising 25 men and 14 women had boarded flight to Jordan. They were supposed to return on December 12.
Meanwhile, airport officials are clueless about how the team flew to Jordan in such a big group. It is also alleged that the airport officials insisted on filing cases against tour operators to hide their fault.
