THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government Wednesday withdrew the decision dropping minimum marks in the entrance exams for engineering admissions. The cabinet decided to restore the condition that ten marks are needed to be in the rank list. Meantime, no change has been made in the criteria for marks in government seats including government colleges.
The existing condition that those not having minimum ten marks will not be included in the entrance rank list has been dropped. Apart from that, 45 marks from the previous 50 is needed for Maths to obtain admissions in management seats. A total of 45 % from the 50 is needed for Physics, Chemistry and Maths. There was a state that a student would obtain admission if an answer was correct. There were criticisms from all sides that marks were relaxed in order to fill seats in self-financing colleges. The government decided to withdraw the decision following that.
