Bodies of farmer couple found hanging

PERINGOM: A farmer couple was found to have committed suicide by hanging themselves reportedly due financial crisis. The dead have been identified as E V Janardhanan (60) and wife Indira (50) from Peirngom Panchayat

The incident came to light today morning after Janardhanan’s brother entered the house as he didn’t see anybody outside. The duo was staying alone in the house. Though they had three daughters, they were living in their husband’s house.

While Janardhanan’s body was seen hanging in the Central hall, his wife’s body was seen hanging in the next room.  

The relatives said Janardhanan had taken loan for agricultural purposes and other things. As the price of the farm products dropped, he couldn’t repay the loan regularly, following which he went into depression. This, it is presumed, might have forced him and his wife to take the drastic step. Shaila, Shiny and Shima are their daughters. The bodies were shifted to Pariyaram Medical College. Peringom police have conducted the inquest.
