KOCHI: Film producers have made it clear that they would stop production work from January 1. This decision follows the demand made by Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) that the technical staff’s wage be increased by 33.5 per cent.
The producers’ organisation, however, said that FEFKA’s demand was unilateral. “FEFKA is demanding an increase of 70 per cent of their present salary. But, under the current circumstances, this is not possible. If, very high wages are demanded, we shall have to stop the shooting as we would have no other way,” said the producers.
The producers also demanded that the FEFKA pay back additional amount they had taken from the producers of Christmas release films.
Meanwhile, if the wage hike is not implemented, the technical staff may also announce their withdrawal from shooting works.
